Blessed are those who wash their robes

Revelation 22:14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.

The unfortunate truth is this – we get worse if we are let alone. If we let things be, we don’t do better. This truth, experienced and acknowledged by us all, is an unfortunate truth.

How great would it be if things only get better when left alone? How great if I only do everything better and better when left alone? But I know that’s not true of me. My mortal body, carrying the habits of sin, tries to obey its old master ‘sin.’

Yes, I am saved. I am a new man. I am a new creature in Jesus Christ. But my body, though it longs for its full redemption, is not perfect yet. It’s already but not yet. My future resurrection guarantees my perfect body. Although my earthly tent will get destroyed and is imperfect, I will soon be dressed with glorious body. This is a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.[2 Corinthians 5:1]

Until that glorious day comes, I have a responsibility. And that responsibility is to wash my robes. Robes symbolizes the actions and deeds of the saints. [Revelation 19:8] Yes, I am a saint, because I am called by God. And as holy people of God, I desire to wash my deeds and actions diligently. Living and seeking God’s holiness is something natural for those who are saved. It’s no longer a duty or a hassle, no, but it’s my heat’s desire to be holy for God is holy.

I pray that God enables me to daily wash my robes. By God’s grace, as my ankles are strengthened, I desire to stand up and run toward God’s Kingdom and participate in His glorious work.

Prayer: Father God, you know I long to live for You, please help me so I make the members of my mortal body obey the new master, Jesus Christ. Let not sin reign in the members of my body. But let Christ reign in me and live as I live in him. In Jesus name.
