For there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of brick

Exodus 5:18 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.

Pharaoh, rather than repenting, hardens his heart. When confronted by Moses and Aaron to let the people go, Pharaoh doubles down in enslaving and working the Hebrews.

His hardened heart is clearly revealed when he forces the Hebrew to do the same amount of work while no straw is given. It’s cruel in every angle. No compassion, no care, no concern for the Hebrews.

But so it is with the history of salvation. When evil gets more evil, then comes salvation. When darkness gets darker, morning nears. Hebrews complained to Moses for their added burden. Only if they knew that the added burden meant their salvation nearing.

In our walk of faith, when injustice and evil gets stronger and stronger, there is no reason for us to despair. Because God is just and righteous. He will not delay. He will bring his justice swiftly. And we look to that. We trust in Him and have faith in His goodness.

As for us, we must keep doing the good we are entrusted to do as we look to Him who is able.

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Prayer: Father God, my heart sometimes cries out to you for injustice I see in this world. I am a sinner, yet, injustice brings pain to my heart. Let me live righteously so that I don’t cause injustice that pains others. And let your justice be served so that this world can be changed one day sooner. In Jesus name.
